TeXnicCenter is ideally suited for you if you need a properly good IDE (integrated development environment) that will help you develop LaTeX documents. TeXnicCenter is also ideally suited for you if you do not want to pay anything for such an IDE and if you want to use said IDE on your Windows-powered machine.

The setup wizard that guides you through the process of installing TeXnicCenter on your Windows-powered machine invites you to pick one of three installation methods: Typical, Compact, and Custom. The Custom Installation allows you to choose which components you want to install: core application files, help files, project and document templates. You will also be asked if you want to add TeXnicCenter to the Send To menu and if you want a TeXnicCenter shortcut on your desktop.

When you’re done with the installation and you launch TeXnicCenter, you will first be presented with a Tip Of The Day Prompt and then you will be presented with a Configuration Wizard that will help you create output profiles.

The LaTeX document you’re working on takes up the main part of the application’s interface. The Navigator panel is to the left, the output panel is below, and at the top there’s a toolbar with buttons for various functions TeXnicCenter can perform. From the Tools menu, the Options submenu, you can change the look and feel of the interface and you can change the language the interface uses.
Please note that TeXnicCenter does not provide a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) interface. The developer explained that “we think that providing such an interface for LaTeX can not benefit from the advantages of LaTeX.”

As mentioned above, TeXnicCenter is an integrated development environment you can use on Windows to develop LaTeX documents. To get a better idea of what this IDE offers, here’s a quick look at its main features: define unlimited output profiles, syntax highlighting, dynamic word wrapping, bookmarks, find and replace, clear structure view, document templates, wizards, support for forward and inverse search, and more. Seeing that TeXnicCenter is released under a GNU General Public License, you have all the time in the world to explore and uncover all the functionality provided by this application.

TeXnicCenter is free, it is easy to use, and it works as advertised. I don’t see why you wouldn’t like this tool for developing LaTeX documents.

Pros

The setup wizard allows you to pick one of three installation methods. The interface is customizable and easy to use. TeXnicCenter provides all the tools you need to develop LaTeX documents. TeXnicCenter is a free application.

Cons

None that I could think of.
